Clouds will be on the increase this morning, and light snow will develop in the Stanley and Challis area later this morning. Snow will spread to the south and east this afternoon, remaining light. Snow accumulations will continue overnight and through Saturday afternoon, then taper off Saturday night and Sunday. Areas of greater than 6 inches of snow accumulation from Friday morning through Sunday afternoon will include the Idaho Wasatch, and mountain ranges along the Idaho-Wyoming border, and only at elevations above 7000 feet.
Michael Pelletier, 82, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Oct. 25, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Ave. in Blackfoot. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Stewart Hoover Post #23. Condolences may be sent to the family at email@example.com.
Mildred Vernetta Nelson, 89, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 from complications of heart and kidney disease.
Vernetta was born Feb. 8, 1922 in Rockford, Idaho to David William Borrowman and Mildred Jane Webster. She was the third of six children. She grew up and attended school in the Blackfoot area.
On Sept. 29, 1941 she married Jay Lars Nelson.
BLACKFOOT â€” Angelica Caratachea is a senior at Shelley High School who has a rare disease that affects her kidneys. She is still waiting for a kidney transplant.
A fundraiser for Angelica will start at 1 p.m. this Sunday at the American Legion Hall, 436 N. Fisher, Blackfoot. Money raised will be used by the family for transportation and board and room as they travel to Salt Lake City for treatments.
The cost is $5 per plate for adults $2 per plate for children. All plates include beans and rice.
BLACKFOOT â€” Bingham Economic Development Corporation's first Economic Symposium Thursday highlighted potentials for economic growth in Bingham County and throughout Southeast Idaho.
Speaking at the symposium, Dan Cravens, regional economist for the Idaho Department of Labor, said Southeast Idaho has drawn interest from numerous employers and said Blackfoot is located in the center of growth between Idaho Falls and Pocatello.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) â€” The Idaho State Board of Education has given Boise State its consent to join the Big East Conference.
The board voted 7-1 Thursday to give university president Bob Kustra authority to move Boise State out of the Mountain West Conference and into the Big East.
Kustra told trustees he has had ongoing discussions with Big East representatives, though the school has yet to receive a formal invitation to join the conference.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) â€” Idaho is set to become first state in the nation to require high school students to take at least two credits online to graduate.
The state Board of Education gave the online education requirement final approval Thursday, despite heavy criticism of the plan at public hearings this summer.
The measure is part of a sweeping education overhaul that introduces teacher merit pay and phases in laptops for every high school teacher and student.

BLACKFOOT â€” Six families coping with the realities of juvenile diabetes received a little assistance Wednesday from the Rollinâ€™ for a Cause fundraiser.
LAS VEGAS (AP) â€” UNLV coach Bobby Hauck says five players have been suspended and will miss Saturday's matchup with No. 5 Boise State.
Hauck says the suspensions are for violations of team rules and code of conduct. Hauck did not provide more details of the violations.
The players suspended include: freshman linebacker Peni Vea; freshman receiver Devante Davis; junior linebacker Princeton Jackson; sophomore running back Tim Cornett and sophomore linebacker Tani Maka.
