Elsie Irene Nation, 82, of Blackfoot passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at The Willows after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Elsie was under the care of Blackfoot Home Health and Hospice.

Plans advance for new jail kitchen

BLACKFOOT — Plans for the new jail kitchen addition at the Bingham County Courthouse are moving forward.
An architect team from Utah-based JWL+BDG Architects and construction management company MBA Construction in Blackfoot met Tuesday to discuss the specifics of the plan and to work down the cost of the project to $450,000.

BHS hazing case: Prosecutor to dismiss some felony charges

BLACKFOOT — The Bingham County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking to dismiss felony charges facing three of the five former Blackfoot High School athletes charged with various criminal offenses that occurred last year.
Bingham County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Randy Smith said the felony charges facing Tyson Katseanes, Anthony Clarke and an unidentified juvenile will be dismissed. Each had been charged with one count of forcible sexual penetration with a foreign object. Both Katseanes and Clarke still face misdemeanor charges.

Highland downs Blackfoot 53-19

POCATELLO — The Blackfoot Lady Broncos got behind the eight ball early in their road date at Highland High School on Tuesday evening and were never able to recover as the Lady Rams completed the season sweep of the Lady Broncos with a 53-19 victory.
"Offensively we didn't execute as well as we are capable of but honestly, I am really optimistic about how far they have come offensively," Blackfoot head coach Mike Kirkham said. "Against a team like Highland, it didn't show though."

Elsie Nation, 82, of Blackfoot passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at The Willows in Blackfoot.
Service arrangements are pending and will be announced by Hawker Funeral Home.

Florence M. Hall, 95

January 4, 2011

Florence Margaret Hall, 95, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at the Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehab.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor John Stevens officiating. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to service at the church.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at condolences@hawkerfuneralhome.com.

Steven C. Aubrey, 43

Steven C. Aubrey, was born Nov. 6, 1967, in Blackfoot to John Robert “Bob” and Kaye Johnson Aubrey. He passed away Dec. 31, 2010, in Pocatello from complications associated with a perforated bowel.

Moran ‘Mori’ Leon Hiatt, 88

January 4, 2011

Moran “Mori” Leon Hiatt was born on June 30, 1922, to Marrion Lillian Hales and Wilford Zachary Hiatt. Being the next to youngest he had five brothers and two sisters to contend with as he grew up in the Blackfoot area. His family had a small farm just south of Blackfoot.

Kristen Joy Foster Brooks

Kristen Joy Foster Brooks was born in Blackfoot on Sept. 12, 1947, to Cluff and Barbara Johnson. She spent much of her childhood in Great Falls, Mont. Later she attended BYU where she received a bachelor’s degree in Business in 1970.
In 1969 she married Robert “Clyde” Foster in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Clyde was a member of the U.S. Army, so Kristen spent many years traveling around the country and lived for several years in Germany. During these years, Kristen and Clyde were blessed with two daughters and six sons, who each brought much joy and adventure to Kristen’s life.

Lynn Anderson, 82

Rex Lynn Anderson, 82, of Ammon, passed away Dec. 31, 2010, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls.
Lynn was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Idaho Falls to Rex Milo Anderson and Annie Rebecca Peterson Anderson. He graduated from Aberdeen High School.
He married Theone Pappas on Nov. 24, 1961, in Elko, Nev. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Nov. 24, 1973. They lived in Pingree for 29 years, then moved to Shelley in 1997. Lynn worked for Bingham County Road and Bridge. In 2005, the couple moved to Ammon.
