Donald â€śDuckâ€ť Cannon, 64, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Bingham Skilled Nursing and Rehab.
He was born Feb. 15, 1947. in Statesboro, Ga., to Grady and Alice Gertrude Lewis Cannon.
He worked at potato warehouses and at the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds for a few years.
He is survived by his mother, Alice Tucker of Blackfoot; brothers, Norman (Cindy) Cannon, Dean Tucker, Rocky Tucker, Albert Cannon, Roger Cannon, Ricky Cannon, David Cannon and Bobby Cannon; sisters, Jean (Frank) Attenwiller, Sandra Cannon, Pamela Cannon and Debra Cannon.
IDAHO FALLS â€” Norma Shafer, 85, of Firth passed away May 2, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Clearfield, Utah, to Lorin and Olive Mae Briggs Moss.Â She was raised and attended schools in Clearfield.
On Nov. 21, 1945, she married Robert L. Shafer in Ogden, Utah.
Norma was employed at RT Frenchâ€™s in Shelley and K-Mart in Idaho Falls.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.
BLACKFOOT â€” Several talented performers will take the stage at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center Friday during the second annual Bingham's Got Talent.
The show will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $3 at the door. All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. The event is organized by the Jason Lee Memorial United Methodist Church's Relay team, Angels Among Us.
GROVELAND â€” Seven-year-old Paige Turner welcomed her first grade classmates from Groveland Elementary to her Make-a-Wish playhouse Tuesday.
When Paige made her choice of a playhouse, she said, "I'd never seen one before; I didn't know you could fit in it."
Paige's two-story playhouse features a fireplace, kitchen area and steps up to the second floor. From the second floor, Paige and her friends can stand on a porch and a slide descends to the ground from a window.
The playhouse arrived in three pieces last Wednesday.
BLACKFOOT â€” A trio of Blackfoot seniors took to the home diamond for the final regular season game on Tuesday afternoon as Darryl Pokibro, Emily Lish and Caitlyn Cathey graced the Blackfoot faithful for their farewell performance.
Facing off with Bingham County rival Shelley, the seniors played their part as they swept the double header 21-11 in game one and 18-8 in game two.
BLACKFOOT â€” Bingham County Emergency Management Services Director Craig Rowland welcomed county, school district, city, fire, police and weather service officials to a flood planning meeting Tuesday in the basement of the Blackfoot fire department.
Under discussion was planning for the potential flood season.
The weather patterns are similar to those in 1997, said hydrologist Troy Lindquist from the NOAA National Weather Service in Pocatello. The last county-wide flooding in Bingham County occurred in 1997.
"There's the potential for a decent amount of rain," Lindquist said.
BLACKFOOT â€” The Blackfoot City Council approved the release of retroactive merit pay raises for eligible city employees during its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday.
After a brief review, Mayor Mike Virtue said the city's budget is in good shape and most departments have spent less than 50 percent of their budget.
"We're in excellent shape," Virtue said.
Employees who were eligible for merit raises during the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2010, will receive a 3 percent merit increase for this year. The council decided to withhold merit raises until a mid-year budget review.
Catherine England, 67, of Blackfoot passed away Monday, May 2, 1011, at her home.
Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home.
Margaret Johnson Heaps Hansen, passed away May 1, 2011, six weeks before her 96th birthday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday May 7, 2011, at the Kimball Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East) in Firth.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and from noon-12:40 p.m. before the services at the church on Saturday.
Interment will be in the Firth Cemetery.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah â€” Jordanah Roslyn Reyes, infant daughter of Mickey Reyes and Bonnie Sanchez, passed away April 29, 2011. at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born April 29, 2011 at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City.
She is survived by her parents of Blackfoot; a brother, Santana; paternal grandparents, Ramon and Maria Reyes of Blackfoot and maternal grandmother; Lucy Marquez Ruiz of Idaho Falls.
