Doris I. Brunette, 90

November 17, 2010

FORT HALL — Doris Ingawanup Brunette, 90, passed away at home, Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010.
A viewing and visitation will be held at her residence on East Simplot Road in Ross Fork, from Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, until a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church on Mission Road, Fort Hall with the burial following in the Mission Cemetery.
All natural burial arrangements are under the care of the Doris Brunette family.

Kathryn ‘Katie’ Hansen, 41

Kathryn “Katie” Hansen, 41, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at the Blackfoot West LDS Stake Center, 101 N. 900 W., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, and again for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.

Gordon Hamilton, 81

James Gordon Hamilton, 81, of Shelley passed away Nov. 14, 2010, at his home.
He was born in Shelley on March 5, 1929, the fourth child and first son of James Campbell Green Hamilton and Eliza VaMeryl Jensen Hamilton. 
He attended school in Shelley, graduating from Shelley High in 1947. He attended winter quarter of 1948 at Ricks College and later attended business school in Idaho Falls on the G.I. Bill.

Lila Mae Hansen, 86

Lila Mae Kay was born March 4, 1924. She joined her Heavenly Father and her husband LaMarr in heaven on Nov. 15, 2010.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Lila was born in Silvis, Ill., to Henry and Laura Kay.  She had one older brother, Nathaniel, and sister Evelyn, and two younger sisters, Virginia and Pauline. She grew up in Montrose, Colo., and graduated from high school there in 1943. While in high school she ran for the school track team and won many ribbons. 

Twila Joy Saxton, 76

Twila Joy Saxton, 76, of Moreland passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family.
Twila was born April 26, 1934, in Beaver Dam, Idaho, to Ellis Paul Leffler and Sara Irene Casper. She was raised in Park City, Utah, moving to Pocatello when she was 18 years old.
On Oct. 15, 1953, Twila married Albert Saxton in Blackfoot. Twila and Albert remained in Blackfoot and the surrounding area. Together they raised five children — Scott, David, John, Julie, Twila Lee and Linda.

Seats available on bus to Boise

BLACKFOOT — Fans of the Blackfoot High School football team have the opportunity to travel to Boise on a chartered bus to support the Broncos at the 4A state championship game against Bishop Kelly Saturday.
Buses chartered through Teton Stage Lines will leave at 7 a.m. from the carnival entrance at the East Idaho State Fairgrounds. The game will be at Boise State University at 1 p.m. Saturday. The bus will leave Boise at 5 p.m. and be back in Blackfoot at 10 p.m. There will be regular rest stops, but no stops for meals.

Conn Sentenced: Former city employee gets seven to 17 years

BLACKFOOT — Former Blackfoot City Parks department employee Michael Roy Conn was sentenced to seven years to 17 years in prison on Tuesday. Conn pled guilty to one count of sexual battery with a minor 16 or 17 years old.
Conn was initially charged with five counts of sexual battery with a minor 16 or 17 years old stemming from incidents in 2008. Charges were filed against him in April 2010.
The plea agreement recommended probation with conditions. This agreement was recommended by the prosecuting attorney, defense attorney and the pre-sentence evaluator.

Firth comeback falls short

FIRTH —The Firth Lady Cougars turned in a valiant effort on Tuesday evening, erasing a double-digit fourth quarter deficit against the 3A South Fremont squad, but in the end the comeback came up just short as Firth fell 48-44.
"I was so proud of our kids," Firth head coach Sharla Cook said. "I thought that we showed great improvement from our first game. I thought that we did a much better job defensively and much better job of shooting our free throws."

James Gordon Hamilton, 81, of Shelley passed away Nov. 14, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday before the services.
Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Hawker Funeral Home.
The family will meet with friends and relatives from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
