Nettie Lavon Hastings, 94, of Basalt, passed away Oct. 26, 2010, at her home.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at the Firth LDS Stake Center (823 North 675 East) in Basalt.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.Â Condolences can be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.
SILVERDALE, Wash. â€” Ruth P. Todd, 77, of Silverdale died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton surrounded by her beloved family.
Ruth was an avid gardner who enjoyed spending time with her family.
BLACKFOOT â€“Â In one whirlwind week everything changed for Robyn Case and her family.
â€śI was 31 years old and I was four months pregnant with my fourth baby when I found a lump,â€ť said Case. â€śI thought it was something that had to do with the pregnancy.â€ť
Her husband, Doug, kept telling her to ask her doctor which she finally did on a Monday in August 2008.
Case says on Monday her doctor sent her over to a surgeon who did a biopsy. Tuesday they did an ultrasound, Wednesday she had an MRI, Thursday they received the results and Friday at 7 a.m. she went in for surgery.
BLACKFOOT â€” Curbside voting and AutoMark voting are available to electors in every precinct in Bingham County.
Curbside voting is done at the polling place. An election worker comes out to the personâ€™s car to assist the vehicle-bound person.
To use this service, the person bringing the voter to the polls comes into the polling place to request that an election worker bring a ballot out to the car. Before voting, each elector must show some form of photo identification to vote.
All polling places have this service available.
FORT HALL â€“ Our Dad, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, Cyrus Lionel Preacher, 45, returned home to the Creator on Oct. 24, 2010, as a result of a sudden illness in Pocatello.
On Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at 10 a.m., Cyrus will be taken to his residence on â€śDâ€ť Street and West Agency Road, Fort Hall, where he will remain for viewing until traditional burial services on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at the Cedars Cemetery at 2 p.m.
All arrangements are under the care of Cyrusâ€™s family and with the assistance of Bannock Pride.
Raymond Spencer, a 74-year-old Blackfoot resident, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, in Blackfoot from natural causes. Arrangements will be announced by the Hawker Funeral Home.
BLACKFOOT â€” Carson Hall is going to Disneyland.
The five-year-old Blackfoot boy was selected by the Make-a-Wish Foundation to go to Disneyland to make his wish of meeting Mickey Mouse come true.
Carson was born with cerebral palsy, a condition that affects brain and nervous system functions such as movement, learning, hearing, seeing and thinking. He is the son of Lisa and Steven Hall of Blackfoot.
â€śHeâ€™s had a hard start,â€ť Lisa said.
BLACKFOOT â€” A train traveling from Idaho Falls to Pocatello spilled dry fertilizer on the tracks as it traveled through Blackfoot Tuesday morning.
The fertilizer, a nitrogen-based dry product often used for commercial purposes, spilled primarily near the crossings at Bridge and Judicial approximately 11 a.m., according to Union Pacific Western Region Director of Media Relations Aaron Hunt. The train carrying the fertilizer is a local one that primarily travels between Idaho Falls and Pocatello with stops along the way in Firth and Blackfoot.
Juanita Gladys Reynwald Gruvman, 96, of Blackfoot, passed away Oct. 24, 2010, at her daughterâ€™s home.
Gladys was born Nov. 1, 1913, in Idaho Falls to John Henry Reynwald and Juanita Sarah Reed Reynwald.Â She attended schools in New Sweden and Dewey.
She married Anton Ivan Gruvman on Aug, 10, 1932, in Logan, Utah.Â Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 26, 1942.Â They lived in Idaho Falls; Sloat, Calif.; Vallejo, Calif.; and Pocatello.Â Gladys worked at the Westbank Motel and Roger Brothers Potatoes. Ivan preceded her in death on March 26, 1983.
Carl Andrew Johannesen, 90, of Blackfoot passed away at his home Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, from causes incident to age.
He was born Nov. 7, 1919, to Julius Andrew and Mary Elizabeth Rice Johannesen in Rupert. He passed away on Oct. 22, 2010, just a few weeks short of his 91st birthday.
He spent most of his younger years in the Idaho Falls area, graduating from Ririe High School and the University of Idaho.Â
