Shelley, Firth to play at Holt on Saturday

POCATELLO — Bingham County football fans have two teams remaining in the Class 3A and Class 2A state tournament.
Shelley and Firth will play in the semifinals of their respective classifications on Saturday.
At 2:30 p.m. Firth will battle West Side at Idaho State University's Holt Arena. The winner will play the winner of the 5 p.m. game between Declo and Wendell, which is also being played at Holt. The two Class 2A survivors will play for the state championship the following week.

THOMAS — With a berth in next week's 3A state semifinal on the line two Bingham County rivals took to the field of Snake River High School Saturday.

Firth advances in tournament

Connor Montgomery scored four touchdowns to lead Firth to a 46-20 victory over Cole Valley Christian in the Class 2A football quarterfinals on Friday.

Bengals looking to get back on track

POCATELLO — The last time the Idaho State and Portland State football teams met, the Vikings rolled all over the Bengals racking up 77 points and almost 800 yards of total offense in a 77-10 victory in Portland last season.

SHELLEY — Shelley cross-country runners Mark Crandall (on left) and Austin Stewart prepare to sign their 3A victory banner Tuesday. For the first time, the Shelley boys' harriers won the state 3A cross country contest. Stewart was the number one runner in the 3A contest.

Bengals win exhibition contest

It took less than four minutes for the Idaho State men’s basketball team to show the fans in Reed Gym their new look offense and defense.
No, coach Bill Evans' patented 2-3 zone is not gone; it has just been improved thanks in part to an influx of new talent and a pressure trapping perimeter defense.
In those opening minutes the Bengals forced a handful of turnovers and got five quick points from Andre Hatchett as ISU ran away with a 97-54 win over Dickinson State in the exhibition opener at Reed Gym Monday night.

Harral saves victory for Panthers

THOMAS — After watching Teton march down the field in the final seven minutes of the game and punch the ball in the end zone to cut the Snake River lead down to 15-13 the Panther needed to make a play to keep their playoff run alive.
