Panthers win district championship over Eagles

THOMAS — Bret Parkinson drove in five runs and Cash Cardona added two in support of Zane Stephenson's pitching as Snake River downed Marsh Valley 10-4 on Tuesday. The win gave the Panthers the Fifth District baseball title and earned them a spot in the state Class 3A tournament next week.
"Do not dangle a championship in front of these Snake River kids and challenge them," a happy coach Rich Dunn said.
He praised Stephenson, who scattered six hits and struck out eight. Both teams had plenty of defensive problems on the windy day. Each team committed six errors.

Lady Broncos advance to title game with 11-3 victory

POCATELLO — The regular season champion Blackfoot Lady Broncos opened their conference tournament on Tuesday as they squared off with the Century Lady Diamondbacks at OK Ward Park. By games end, Blackfoot had advanced to today's title game as the bottom of the line up came through with 8 of the Lady Broncos 11 runs in a 11-3 victory.
"Huge, just huge," Blackfoot head coach Matt Chavez said of his lineup. "The girls came through with big hits when we needed them just like they have all year long. I think that this wasn't our best game this year but we did enough to get the job done."

Lady Panthers split two on Monday for second in districts

AMERICAN FALLS — Make no doubt about it, the Snake River Lady Panthers came to play on Monday afternoon as they split the day with a 13-1 win over American Falls to advance the district championship game and then falling just short in a seventh inning rally as they settled for second place with a 9-7 defeat to Bear Lake.
"What can I say? The girls battled all the way to the end." Snake River head coach Kay Martin said. "They came out firing in game one and took care of business and then even though we were down all the way through the second game they just never gave up and I think that it is a testament to the character of these girls. They just never quit."

Honeybadgers top Silverbacks 20-10 for the Eastern Division rugby title.

BLACKFOOT — An Eastern Division Championship was on the line Saturday afternoon as the 5-1 and top seeded Bingham United Silverbacks welcomed the Portneuf Honeybadgers to town. The visiting Honeybadgers proved to be a very strong team indeed as they avenged an earlier season loss to the Silverbacks by shocking Bingham United on their home field by the final tally of 20-10.

Lady Broncos sweep Lady Trojans 10-3, 11-0.

IDAHO FALLS — The Blackfoot Lady Broncos closed out the regular season on Thursday evening as they swept Rigby 10-3 and 11-0 to complete the undefeated conference slate.
"It's great to come out and accomplish an undefeated regular season and since we are the top seed we get a first round bye which will give us a chance to rest up and heal up a couple of our players," Blackfoot head coach Matt Chavez said.

Bees sting Broncos in season finale

BLACKFOOT — The final score of Wednesday's High Country Conference baseball game between the Blackfoot Broncos and the Bonneville Bees looks lopsided. In fact, the game itself was much tighter than the score indicates and unfortunately for the large Blackfoot crowd in attendance for Blackfoot's senior night, it was the visiting Bees who emerged on top with a 16-5 victory.

Blackfoot sweeps Bonneville, captures regular season title

IONA — The Blackfoot Lady Broncos wrapped up the regular season High Country Conference Championship with a double header sweep of Bonneville on Tuesday evening. Braving the cold, wind and snow, the Blackfoot bats were unfazed as they pounded out 29 hits during the double dip winning 14-2 in game one and then 13-2 in the nightcap.
"It seems like the more games that we play the stronger these girls are getting," Blackfoot head coach Matt Chavez said. "I feel like we are peaking at just the right time."

Lady Broncos pummel Lady Indians 15-0 and 11-0

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Lady Broncos pounded out 29 hits and scored 26 runs in a double header whitewashing of the Preston Lady Indians on Saturday as they won 15-0 and 11-0 with both games being called in the fifth inning.
