Lady Panthers draw with Lady Cougars

THOMAS - A day removed from a hard fought 2-1 road win at Teton the Snake River Lady Panthers returned home to tangle with a South Fremont squad whom the Lady Panthers had vanquished just a week previous.
Unfortunately, a combination of missed first half opportunities and a building fatigue factor from back-to-back games led to a 0-0 tie by games end.

Grizz top Broncos 3-0

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Bronco volleyball squad opened their home portion of the 2012 schedule on Tuesday evening as they welcomed 5A Skyline to town for a non-conference tilt on the hardwood.
The Broncos and Grizz battled into extra points in the first game before the Grizz emerged triumphant with a 27-25 victory and then cruised home from their by sweeping the Broncos in three games with 25-15 and 15-13 tallies in the second and third games.

Panthers Roar in Opening Night Victory

THOMAS — Wyatt Wray hit Bret Parkinson for a pair of touchdown passes and the Snake River Panthers opened defense of their 3A state title with a resounding 57-18 home win over South Fremont on Friday night.
"I told the kids before the game that if they did three things; no turnovers, no penalties and if they tackled that they would win and they took care of all three of them," Snake River head coach Jeff Dalley said. "I was happy with both sides of the ball. I thought that the kids played a good game."

Cougars make Pirates walk the plank

FIRTH — For those who thought that last years run to the championship game was a fluke think again. The Firth Cougars are for real, and they showed that in good old Firth Football fashion Friday night as they dismantled West Side 44-18 in the season opener.
The Cougars started the first drive of the game at their own 32 yard line and called on Mitch Orme’s number 5, over and over again. Firth was facing a 4th and 17 as they drew something up out of the Boise State playbook with a hook and ladder to Orme, to get them down to the goal line where Nick Andersen punched it in from 3 yards out Orme got the 2 point conversion.

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Bronco boys soccer squad turned in another stellar defensive performance on Thursday afternoon as they stifled the visiting Hillcrest Knights with a solid 1-0 non-conference victory.
"You know that Hillcrest is a good team and even though it's no longer conference you can feel it from the kids that this game is a big game because of it," Blackfoot head coach Liam Pope said. "Hillcrest is a big challenge and so this game had some bite to it."

Panther volleyball open season with a victory

THOMAS — The two time defending 3A state volleyball champion Snake River Panthers took to the home court for the first time in the 2012 season as they welcomed sixth district rival Sugar-Salem to town for a good old fashioned tussle on the court.
Snake River shook off an uncharacteristically shaky night from the service line as they dispatched with the pesky Diggers in four games 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-20.

Lady Broncos pick up first season win in 3-0 shutout

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Lady Broncos picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday afternoon as they blanked the Jerome Lady Tigers 3-0.
Once again the Lady Broncos were aided in their cause by the talented right foot of Cassandra Clarke as the fleet footed junior recorded her second straight hat trick with all three goals in the victory.
"I hate to say it but Cassandra broke another record today by being the first Blackfoot girl to have back-to-back hat tricks," Blackfoot head coach Scott Stufflebeam said.

Broncos tie Tigers 1-1

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Broncos made their home debut of the 2012 season on Tuesday afternoon as they tangled with a feisty Jerome club.
At the end of 80 minutes of play the game ended with a 1-1 tie as the two squads battled it out throughout the contest.
"Jerome are a good team no ifs, ands or buts," Blackfoot head coach Liam Pope said. "We knew that they were going to be a good squad coming in though."
