October 13, 2014

THOMAS – Walking into the gym at Snake River High School on senior night for the Lady Panthers volleyball team last Thursday there was one lone name spelled out on the gym wall.
Under the painted Panther on the wall in black letters was the name Josey and the number 19.
In pregame warms Snake River senior Josey Carter came out in a grey t-shirt with a wolf on it to signify Carter being the lone wolf of the senior class for the Panthers as they look to repeat as 3A state volleyball champions.

BLACKFOOT — As the clock wound down in the fourth quarter the Blackfoot High School student section began chanting "seniors, seniors, seniors."
And with good reason the 24 seniors who were celebrating their final regular season home game Friday night left their mark on the visiting Preston Indians as the group of Damon Bodkin, Andrew Hatch and Si Hoskins combined for four touchdowns as the Broncos cruised to a 40-21 win at Blackfoot High School Friday night.

Lady Panthers battle through adversity for win on senior night

October 9, 2014

THOMAS — The way the match began Thursday night it was easy to think the Snake River Lady Panthers were going to roll visiting South Fremont.
But that was far from the case.
After rolling over the Cougars 25-13 in set one, the Panthers had to battle and claw to take set two 25-21.
Snake River dropped set three forcing a fourth set.
In the fourth and final set the Panthers led the entire way, but had to fight off a very tough Cougar team at the end to earn 25-20 win and take the match 3-1.

For over 65 minutes the Broncos and Trojans played to a scoreless draw. But a free kick with 13:45 left in the game found the back of the net to give Rigby a 1-0 win spoiling senior night for the Broncos five seniors.

Lady Broncos battle back to earn five set win over Preston

October 7, 2014

BLACKFOOT — After taking a two sets to one lead over visiting Preston Tuesday night, the Blackfoot Lady Broncos needed to put together one clean set to earn a big district win.
But in that fourth set things fell apart very quickly.
The Lady Broncos fell behind 6-1 to start the set and never found and flow as Preston cruised to a 25-11 set win to force a decisive fifth set.
Prior to that fifth and final set the Lady Broncos huddled around head coach Mindy Baldwin to hear some final instructions before hitting the floor.

Lady Panthers cruise past Teton

October 2, 2014

THOMAS — If there was any downside to the Lady Panthers win over Marsh Valley on Tuesday it was the service game.
Snake River did not serve well the entire match and that allowed the Eagles to stay in the match a little longer than many in attendance thought.
Thursday, the Lady Panthers welcomed Teton to Thomas and from the opening serve the Panthers had fixed their issues from two days prior.
The Panthers serving was the key to match as in each set a big run set up by strong serves.
Snake River won the match in straight sets 25-14, 25-13, 25-13 at Snake River High School Thursday night.

Lady Broncos drop a pair of matches to Rigby and Hillcrest

October 1, 2014

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Broncos tri-match with district foe Rigby and Hillcrest was delayed by a half hour Wednesday afternoon when the officials had a miscommunication and showed up late.
During the delay the Broncos and Rigby warmed up and got ready for the match.
The extra warm-up time was not a good thing for the Broncos as the fell to the Trojans in straight sets and later in the night lost to Hillcrest in two sets.
"We did not play well at all," Blackfoot head coach Mindy Baldwin said of the Rigby match. "I don't know what I have to do to get them up for a big match."
