Bees run past Broncos 73-51

BLACKFOOT — When the Blackfoot and Bonneville basketball teams met in Iona on Dec. 18, the Broncos let a lead slip away in the final two minutes before falling by seven.
Friday night the top ranked team in the 4A ranks made the trip south to Blackfoot for the seasons second and final meeting.
The Broncos who came into the game on a six-game losing also needed to find a way to stop the Bees Jared Stutzman and Telly Davenport.
After one quarter the Bees duo established the control of the game scoring 23 of the Bees 25 first quarter points on the way to a 73-51 victory.

Tobey, Clarke combine for 44 in Broncos win over Bees

BLACKFOOT — Morningrose Tobey and Cassandra Clarke combined to score 44 points as Blackfoot earned a big 4A District 5/6 win over Bonneville 56-42 Thursday night at Blackfoot High School.
Tobey, who was celebrating her 17th birthday Thursday was the spark plug for the Broncos on both ends of the floor, while Clarke continued her aggressive play from the last few games.

Firth withstands fourth quarter rally to down South Fremont 49-45

FIRTH — Entering the fourth quarter the Firth Cougars held a 12-point lead and were in control of their game with South Fremont.
But a 13-2 run by the visiting Cougars in the final three minutes of the game cut a 14-point Firth lead down to three with less than a minute left in the game.
But in the final 37 seconds Firth outscored South Fremont 6-3 to earn a 49-45 victory Wednesday night.

D-backs take down Lady Broncos 68-55

POCATELLO — Two words describe the Blackfoot Lady Broncos 68-55 loss to the top ranked team in 4A the Century Diamondbacks.
Those words, foul trouble.
From the opening tip the Lady Broncos struggled defending the paint and dealing the with Diamondbacks 6-foot-2 post Henny Hearn.

Snake River’s Treyton Nilsson takes home Tiger/Grizz title

IDAHO FALLS — After two days and hundreds of matches wrestlers from 30 high schools were working towards reaching the big stage and the final mat and the shot to crowned Tiger/Grizz Invitational champion.
Two wrestlers from Bingham County would survive the weekend and get the chance to win the elusive title on the single mat in the center of gym at Skyline High School on Saturday.
When the day was done, just one took home a title.
The one, Snake River's Treyton Nilsson.

Russets sink Panthers with late free throws

SHELLEY – In a game that featured all the momentum swings you would expect between the Snake River and Shelley boys basketball teams a couple of questionable calls in the final 7.6 seconds of the game proved to be the difference.
A foul called on an attempted steal by the Panthers Kade Keller sent the Russets Blaine Rumsey to the free throw line for what turned out to be the game-winning points as the Russets handed the Panthers their second loss of the season 48-46 Saturday night.

Defense on display in Lady Panthers victory

THOMAS — If you were one of the fans in attendance at Snake River High School Friday night and were hoping to see an offensive show, you went home disappointed.
Instead fans were witness to another strong defensive effort from the Lady Panthers as the earned a hard fought 30-25 win over fifth district rival Marsh Valley.

Trojans take down Russets

SHELLEY — Coming into Thursday's game with Rigby, the Shelley Russets had won their last three games.
And after the opening minute of the game Thursday it looked as if the streak would continue.
But a strong fourth quarter by the two-time defending 4A state champs including a 7-0 run in the final 1:14 of the game was the difference as the Trojans took down the Russets 57-50.
