Man wanted by police turns self in

UPDATE 3:50 p.m.

At about 1:45 PM today Byron D. Crofts turned himself in at the Bingham County Courthouse. Crofts was questioned by detectives from the Bingham County-Blackfoot Joint Investigations Division then booked into the Bingham County Jail for the charges of Rape, Kidnapping in the First Degree, and Battery With Intent To Commit A Serious Felony.

Blackfoot Police/Bingham County Sheriff’s detectives are looking for Byron Deray Crofts, 32, of Blackfoot. Crofts has an active arrest warrant for the crimes of Rape, Kidnapping in the First Degree, and Battery With Intent To Commit A Serious Felony.

The charges stem from an incident in the afternoon hours of August 24 at Croft’s residence on the east side of Blackfoot. Crofts has family ties to
Bingham, Bonneville, and Jefferson counties.

Crofts fled the scene of the crime in a black 1995 Toyota Corolla with no license plates. The Toyota has rear-end damage and peeling paint. Crofts has a history of armed assault and should be considered violent and dangerous.
