BLACKFOOT — Nearly 200 animals were weighed-in Monday evening in the 4-H barn at the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds (EISF). This qualifies the animal and his/her handler to participate in Bingham County 4-H fair.
Sheep, meat goats and four pigs were carried, pushed and prodded onto the scale.
At the weigh-in, sheep need to weigh under 100 pounds. Goats weighed under 70 pounds and pigs needed to be under 90 pounds.
After the weigh-in, 4-H members took part in a sheep showmanship class.
"It teaches them how to care for his/her animal and how to show it at the fair," said 4-H coordinator Debbie White. "It's open to all ages and all levels of experience."
The 2011 Bingham County 4-H Fair is scheduled for Aug. 1-3 at the EISF.
