Allan was born Oct. 30, 1949 in Gooding, Idaho to Ward Mills and Thelma Dille.Â
He was raised in Shoshone, attending grade school and high school there and enjoyed playing football.Â
After high school, Allan attended Idaho State University for a short period of time, where he met and married Glenda VanSickle.Â They had three children, Brian, Dena and Neil and were later divorced.Â He moved to Blackfoot 35 years ago.
Allan served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict, serving mostly in Alaska and California as an aviation mechanic specialist.Â Following his military service he returned to college and attended Idaho State University Vo-Tech to become a machinist.
Allan worked for Basic American as a machinist and had worked the past 25-plus years at General Mills. He was a member of the NRA.
In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.Â
Allan is survived by his sons, Brian Kip Mills and Neil Ward Mills, both of Blackfoot; daughter, Dena (Jerry) Smith of Idaho Falls; brother, Arthur (Bobbie) Mills of Pocatello; sisters, Sandra (George) Aggeler of Pocatello and Jenetta Knowles of Dietrich; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Darwin and Jack; and two sisters, Versa and Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.Â Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 and for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.Â Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.Â
