Â Almy Jay Robinson, 76, of Blackfoot went peacefully to his heavenly home, surrounded by family on Sunday, Dec.2, 2012 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
He was born Dec.28, 1935 in Idaho Falls to Wallace Ezra and LaVinda Cramer Robinson.Â He was the youngest of five children.Â He had one brother and three sisters.Â He was raised on a farm and always loved being in the country.
He joined the Air Force on Jan. 31, 1956.Â He served in California, Texas, Okinawa andÂ Newfoundland.Â He was an airplane mechanic.
He married Vera Jo (Shirley) Converse on June 1, 1960 in Shelley.Â Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 23, 1982.
Almy worked at the Idaho Falls Airport after he left the Air Force.Â He got his pilotâ€™s license while working there.Â He later worked at Hallways as a pilot and mechanic while they lived in Idaho Falls.Â He went to work for Bower Equipment as a mechanic.Â They moved to Blackfoot shortly after and he did custom farming for Bowers as well.Â He bought a small farm in Rose and worked the farm also.Â He also worked at Valley Equipment as a sales rep.Â He bought the V-1 Station in Pocatello and shortly after they moved there.Â He managed the station for about 10 years.Â They moved to Moreland, and he retired shortly after.Â They did horse therapy in their barn for about three years.Â The children involved with the therapy loved spending time with Almy.
Almy was an honest, hardworking man.Â He loved life and always knew how to make people laugh.Â He enjoyed fishing and loved being on the farm.Â He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and their children: Sandy (John) Elison of Rockford, Kathy (Gail) Conn of Pocatello, Danny (Janis) of Seattle, Wash.; Wally (Laena) of Middleton; Leena (Sam) Ernest of Eugene, Ore.; and Levi Robinson; 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren on the way; three sisters, Norma Gneiting of Idaho Falls, Reva (Sylvan) Mason of Saint Anthony, and Ann Harrington of Lewiston.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, one brother, Lewis Vaughn Robinson; son, William Roy Robinson, grandson, Dominick Ryan Robinson and twin granddaughters, Ashley and Amber Robinson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec.8, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Groveland Cemetery.
