Artist's works to be on display in SLC

BLACKFOOT – Ken Spencer, a nationally recognized artist who calls Blackfoot, Idaho home, will show some of his original inspirational paintings at the prestigious Inspirational Artist Association Christmas Showcase at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City next week.
Spencer will exhibit some recent painting from his trip to Nauvoo and his adventures down the Grand Canyon. His works will include paintings of historical buildings in Nauvoo and breathtaking canyon scenes.
The Second Annual Christmas Season Showcase and Art Sale is open to the public and admission is free. The show begins Thursday, Dec. 1 from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. and runs Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Spencer, along with other artists,  will be in attendance and will be available to visit and discuss the stories behind their inspirational works of art. All the works will be available for purchase at special pricing.
Other artists exhibiting at the 3-day event include Joseph Brickey, Simon Dewey, Liz Lemon Swindle, Michael Malm, Robert Barrett, Jay Ward, and Scott Summer –– all painters who have inspired many over the years with their depictions of the Savior had his life.
Julie Roger, Glen Edwards, Bjorn Thorkelson, and Sandra Rast will show their latest pioneer paintings and artists Linda Curley Christensen and Garth Oburn will feature gorgeous landscape paintings next to Anne Marie Oborn and Don Thorpe whose work has been described as that which "embodies more contemporary inspirational ideas".
Organizers invite everyone to "come enjoy all the lights and ambiance surrounding Temple Square and to let these monumental original paintings set the mood for your Christmas season."
