Attorney General presents open meetings seminar

When a local government entity tried to hide an action which cost that entity substantial money, a citizen used Idaho's public records and open meetings laws to bring the issue to the public's attention.
On Wednesday, representatives of cemetery districts, library districts and state agencies received training on those laws from Attorney General Lawrence Wasden and his chief deputy, Brian Kane.
Idahoans for Openness in Government and the region's three daily newspapers sponsored the event.
"The ways these two laws operate benefit everyone in Idaho," Wasden said. "Watching our government operate is a keystone of our form of government."
