Betty Jean Nussbaum Burback, 81, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, in Pocatello.
She was born on Aug. 29, 1929, in Montpelier. She was the youngest of six children born to John Jacob and Emilie Anderegg Nussbaum.
When Betty was eight months old, her family moved to Pocatello. She attended Pocatello High School, graduating in 1946.
She married George Charles â€śCharlieâ€ť Burback, her childhood friend, on Dec. 1, 1947, upon his return from military service. They had two children: David (Linda) of Corvallis, Ore., and Sandra (Kim) Rogers of Blackfoot.
Betty started working at Idaho State University as a cook at one of the dormitories when her children were in high school. She retired after 24 years of loyal service.
She enjoyed quilting, knitting, and sewing teddy bears. She was especially happy when her handiwork found loving homes. She was also an avid reader. In her younger years she and Charlie enjoyed motorcycle riding and camping.
She preceded in death by her parents, sister May, and brothers Jimmy, Jack, and Bill.
Betty is survived by her husband; her sister Olga; her children; four grandchildren: Corey (Diana) Burback of Winston, Ore.; Amy (Cameron) Marlowe of Boise; and Emily (David) Phillips and Paul (Leslie) Rogers of Blackfoot. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Connor and Danica Burback; Andrea, Hannah, and Collin Marlowe; Crewe, Piper, and Chance Phillips; and Evie and McKenzie Rogers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road.
A viewing will be held from 3-3:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
The inurnment will follow the services at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at the Inkom Cemetery.
Her funeral arrangements are under the direction of Wilks Funeral Home, 238-8000.
