Bingham County schools have mixed AYP results

High schools in Aberdeen, Firth and Shelley met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for school year 2010-2011 in the report released by the Idaho Department of Education.
In the Snake River School District, no school made AYP for school year 2010-2011.
In the Blackfoot School District, the schools that made AYP included Fort Hall, Stoddard and Wapello Elementary and Blackfoot High School.
To make AYP, a school must meet the student achievement goals—or proficiency targets—set by the Idaho State Board of Education in 41 different target areas during a given school year. The 41 targets include students in the entire school, students with disabilities, students with limited English proficiency and students who are economically disadvantaged.
For reporting purposes (participation), Idaho does not report student data for fewer than 10 students in any category. For accountability purposes (proficiency), Idaho does not report student data for fewer than 34 students.
Each school's data is added together at the district level to determine the school district's AYP report.
No school district in Bingham County made AYP.
Schools, school systems and the state must meet proficiency benchmarks in nine subgroups, including five race/ethnicity groups; students with disabilities; limited English proficient students; economically disadvantaged students; and the school as a whole.
Idaho proficiency targets for the 2010-2011 school year are 85.6 percent in reading and 83 percent in math. These percentages are the same target figures as the previous school year.

Snake River School District
At Snake River High School, only the category of economically disadvantaged missed the Idaho State Achievement Test (ISAT) in math (75 percent) and reading (82.5 percent) proficiency.
At the Snake River Junior High, the Hispanic category missed math (73.8 percent) and reading (82.8 percent) proficiency.
At the Snake River Middle School, proficiency goals were missed in Hispanic, Limited English proficiency and economically disadvantaged.
The scores from Snake River elementary schools were not available.
The Snake River District did not met AYP goals.

Aberdeen School District
In the Aberdeen, the high school met and surpassed every target.
At Aberdeen Middle School, only two goals were not met. These were math proficiency in the economically disadvantaged category (76.4 percent) and language usage goal (72.5 percent) for all students.
The Aberdeen elementary school missed targets in math proficiency in Hispanic and Limited English proficiency; reading targets in all students (80.7 percent), Hispanic (72.6), Limited English proficiency (72) and economically disadvantaged (83.1). The goal of 75.1 percent for all students in language usage reached only 71.4 percent.
The district did not meet AYP goals.

Firth School District
In Firth, the high school met and surpassed each AYP target.
The Firth Middle School missed proficiency goals in Hispanic reading (80.9 percent) and proficiency goals for students with disabilities in reading (57.7 percent) and math (55.4 percent).
The elementary school scores were not available. The district did not meet AYP goals.

Shelley School District
The Shelley High School met and surpassed AYP targets.
The district did not meet targets in the the category of limited English proficiency (83.2 percent) and students with disabilities did not meet proficiency goals in reading (66.9 percent) and math (64.7 percent).
Other school scores in the district were unavailable.
