Bingham Memorial officials introduce new doctors
BLACKFOOT — Bingham Memorial Hospital has recently added a number of new doctors to its staff. On Wednesday, during the Greater Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce luncheon, BMH representative Scott Reese introduced two of them.
"We've had an incredibly busy year," Reese said. "Our growth is because of you."
Dr. Tushar Shah, a hospitalist, and Dr. Rebecca Gill, a surgeon who specializes in breast cancer and melanomas, explained their passions.
Dr. Shah noted that the hospitalist program is new at Bingham.
"I work in the hospital 24/7 when I'm on," he said. "I don't have an outside clinic."
He said his availability is important when patients need to see a doctor.
"Patients appreciate what I do. There is a trust once you take care of that patient."
Dr. Gill said she was looking for a place where she could make a difference when she came to Bingham. She noted that Southeast Idaho, because of its emphasis on outdoor sports and outdoor occupations such as agriculture, has really high melanoma rates.
"We've found this to be a very warm and welcoming community," she said. "We absolutely made the right decision."
She noted that she is originally from the Denver area and spent time in Montana before coming here. Most recently she was practicing in St. Louis.
