James Griswold, age 54, from Blackfoot was arrested Monday for manufacturing a controlled substance.
Griswold appeared in court Tuesday and was released on his own recognizance.
The Blackfoot Police Department reported that approximately 7:15 p.m. Monday, police responded to an address on North University for a welfare check.
The owner of the home had not been seen all day and, according to the caller, that was unusual.
Police were unable to locate the owner but his vehicles were still at the residence.
Concerned for Griswold's safety, policemen went into the house and located several marijuana plants.
After making sure the owner was not inside, police left the residence, obtained a search warrant and returned to the home.
The search warrant was served and 29 marijuana plants were recovered with a street value of $120,000. The owner of the home returned as police were serving the search warrant.
Griswold will next appear in court on Thursday, April 26.
