Bonnie “Verlee” Mangum, 80

Bonnie “Verlee” Mangum, 80, of Blackfoot, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014 at the Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center.
Verlee was born  July 31, 1934 in Monmouth, Illinois, to Arthur Flora Thornburg and Fay Cleo Shellabarger. She was raised in Illinois and Salt Lake City, Utah, and finished her schooling in the Snake River School District when she moved to Idaho to live with her aunt and uncle, Gayle and Ruby Williams.
On May 4, 1955 Verlee married Lynn R. Mangum in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had four sons, Lloyd, Ron, Barry and Blaine.
Verlee worked in the school lunch program and at the State Hospital South cafeteria.  In her free time she enjoyed quilting, seamstress and making her children's clothes, scrapbooking, genealogy and spending time with her family.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Primary president and in all the other auxiliaries over the years.  She was also active in the Blackfoot C.B. Club, Cub Scouts and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion.
Verlee is survived by her husband, Lynn of Blackfoot; sons, Lloyd (Teresa) Mangum of Blackfoot, Ron (Tammy) Mangum of Wasilla, Alaska; and Barry (Becky) Mangum of Pocatello; 8 grandchildren; and 14-and-a-half great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Blaine Mangum; and grandson, Brock Mangum.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014 at the Blackfoot South LDS Stake Center, 900 Riverton Road in Blackfoot.  The family will meet with friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church.  Interment will follow at the Groveland Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
