Bonnie Rae Allison Harmon, 83, died July 30, 2012, in Logan, Utahah, of causes incident to old age.
Bonnie was born on Sept. 16, 1928, in Pocatello to Ray Theodore and Grace Foster Allison (later Rohde). She was the oldest of four children and cared steadfastly for her three younger brothers.
She married Edgar Allen Harmon, the love of her life, on Aug. 6, 1948, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.
Early in her life she worked as a telephone operator and dental assistant, bUtah soon turned her attention to raising a family, which grew to nine children. She was a loving and meticulous mother, bringing a spirit of caring and organization to all she touched.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she enjoyed serving in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. Bonnie had a passion for genealogy, getting to know her ancestors and sharing all she learned with her posterity. Two missions with Ed, both to England, were the highlight of her church service, as they ministered to others in Newcastle-under-Lyme and later served in the London LDS Temple. OUtahgoing and down to earth, they formed many close friendships during their time of service.
Bonnie and Ed spent most of their early family years in SoUtahhern California. Then in 1975 they returned to Idaho where together they established and operated a dairy farm. Later they moved to Blackfoot where they lived until Ed’s death in 2003. In recent years she lived in the Logan, Utahah, area, where she received assistance from her family for her growing physical needs. We express our appreciation for the care she received at the Pioneer Valley Lodge and Legacy Retirement Community.
We honor our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother for her lifetime of love and service, and her witness that “the Lord knows each of us and is ready to assist us if need be, and is offering His hand and His angels to help us.”
Early on in their marriage, Bonnie and Ed misplaced a $20 bill. The rest of their lives, whenever Bonnie would say “Guess what?” Ed would reply, “You found the 20 dollars?” Guess what, Mom and Dad—you’ve finally found the 20 dollars!
Bonnie is survived by her nine children: Douglas Dean (Linda) Harmon of Carlsbad, Calif.; Sandra Charlene (Dan) Thomas of Idaho Falls: Peggy Jean (Mark) Steele of American Fork, Utah; Margie Ann (Terry) of Delta, Utah; Shelly Sue Harmon of Rigby; David Allen (Dodie) Harmon of Rigby; Kelly Samuel (Julia) Harmon of North Logan, Utah; Kevin Foster (Ellen) Harmon of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and Penny Allison Schwicht of Logan, Utah. She is also survived by 42 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar and her three brothers, Richard, Sherman, and Dean Allison.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Ave., Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. that morning at the same location. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
