Broncos remain unbeaten in 34-21 win over Preston

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Broncos built a five touchdown first half advantage and then coasted home for a 34-21 home victory over the Preston Indians on Friday evening.
Blackfoot out gained the Indians 314-73 in a first half that witnessed a dominating first half performance from the defending state champions as the Broncos tallied a pair of touchdowns through the air and a trio of rushing touchdowns for the 34-0 halftime lead.

"Our offensive line did a tremendous job up front and our ground game was really strong tonight," Blackfoot head coach Stan Buck said. "Alonzo also played well. We had a couple of drops which accounted for his misses but overall I thought that we did a good job of mixing it up."
Ramos finished the night 8-11 for 188 yards through the air including a pair of touchdown strikes to his favorite target Colby Pearson in limited action.
Pearson and Ramos connected on a 17-yard strike into the corner of the end zone early in the second quarter and then again, this time from 50-yards out as Pearson simply blew past the Indian defense with just under five minutes remaining in the half.
Blackfoot trotted a stable of running backs onto the field with Kayler Haddon leading the charge with 88-yards rushing on just 9 attempts and the games first touchdown run on a 2-yard plunge to cap the games opening drive of the night.
Blackfoot also got touchdown runs from Jacob Denning and Ryan Murdoch in the big second quarter.
With the big halftime lead Blackfoot was able to go deep into their bench with back up signal caller Dallas Thompson headlining the group with 66-yards rushing on 9 carries as Blackfoot tried to kill the clock throughout the second half of play.
"We had a good opportunity to get lots of kids into the game which made the game kind of ugly to watch," coach Buck said. "I'm happy with the first half and Preston played physical all the way to the end of the game."
Indeed, the Indians never said die, tallying a trio of fourth quarter touchdowns to make the final score on the scoreboard respectable.
Next up for Blackfoot (4-0, 2-0) will be a home date with Bonneville next Friday evening at 7 p.m.
"Bonneville are a team to be reckoned with," Coach Buck said. "We will have to be prepared to come out and play four quarters of solid football."
