Broncos take two from Skyline

BLACKFOOT-The Blackfoot Broncos baseball team showed how Bronco baseball can be played. The Broncos won both of their games when they faced off against the Skyline Grizzlies, Thursday afternoon.
In the first game, Cole Mansanerez started off Blackfoot’s scoring when he hit a nice triple and sent Zach Later sliding into home plate. The Broncos went on a scoring spree and gained five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Colby Pearson started off pitching the game finishing with 8 strike outs, and Jaron Katseanes stepped in to finish up the last inning as he pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
“Colby pitched hard today, and I am really happy with the way Jaron pitched. He came off of two days rest and did a good job,” Blackfoot head coach Jeff Katseanes said.
The Broncos defense held the Grizzlies from scoring any run until the top of the third inning. Along with that, the defense held Skyline to only four runs for the whole game. The Broncos took the win, 8-4.
The Broncos didn’t lose their momentum in the second game as they came out victorious, 10-8.
Blackfoot led throughout but Skyline made one final run at the Broncos as they rallied for 5 runs in the top of the seventh inning but with two outs and the go ahead run standing at the plate, Cody Evans pitched three strikes to thwart the comeback attempt and secure the victory.
Offensively the big inning was the second for the Broncos as they took a 7-0 lead with a mammoth inning which was highlighted by a 3RBI double by Jaron Katseanes.
“I am really happy with everybody’s efforts today. They did everything they needed to do to win the game,” coach Katseanes said.
Blackfoot (13-3) will play again Tuesday at home against Bonneville at four and six for a double header.
