BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Broncos made their home debut of the 2012 season on Tuesday afternoon as they tangled with a feisty Jerome club.
At the end of 80 minutes of play the game ended with a 1-1 tie as the two squads battled it out throughout the contest.
"Jerome are a good team no ifs, ands or buts," Blackfoot head coach Liam Pope said. "We knew that they were going to be a good squad coming in though."

The defending 4A state champs took it to the Tigers in the first half of play as they dominated time of possession with their all to familiar passing game. That passing game led to many chances that came up just short until Andy Garcia broke free in the 28th minute for his first Blackfoot goal and a 1-0 advantage.
"We're rebuilding and I thought that we attempted to move the ball well we just were missing by a yard behind or a yard ahead which is a little bit frustrating at times but that's how it goes sometimes," Coach Pope said. "Andy did a nice job of finishing on his goal though. He didn't rush it and he showed good composure on that play."
Blackfoot continued their strong defensive effort throughout the game in front of goal keeper Oziel Oseguera but Jerome were able to solve the riddle on a corner kick in the 55th minute as the Tiger offensive player got a head on the ball just inside the box, lifting it over Oseguera and just under the cross bar for the tying score.
"It was a great header from that kid," Coach Pope said. "There really wasn't much we could have done on that one."
From their the Bronco defense locked the Tigers down offensively with no real threats for the remainder of the contest. On the other end, Blackfoot had their chances for the potential game winner but just missed on a several shots.
"I would be more concerned if we weren't trying to move the ball and weren't getting our scoring chances," Coach Pope said. "The kids were getting a little frustrated but it will come."
Blackfoot 1-0-1 will be back in action on Thursday when they face off with a familiar foe in Hillcrest beginning at 4:30 at Blackfoot High School.
