BLACKFOOT â€“Â The BYU Ballroom Dance Company returns to Blackfoot Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center. This year they bring the world champion showcase Capture the Magic! to the BPAC stage.
BPAC Programming Director Susan Mann says they have added an exciting free one-hour ballroom dance workshop that will be taught by dancers from the BYU Dance Company that afternoon. The free workshop begins at 2 p.m. and is open to all ages. No pre-registration is required.
With Lee and Linda Wakefield at the program's helm, Brigham Young University's Ballroom Dance Company wins competitions and amazes audiences every year. Under their direction, the Ballroom Dance Company recently completed a successful tour to Thailand and Vietnam, and the team has repeatedly been crowned the US and British National Champions in ballroom and Latin formation dance categories. The team is known worldwide for its showcase Capture the Magic!, a performance renowned for precision, exciting variety, and outstanding dance exhibition.
Whether performing in the United States or abroad, Ballroom Dance Company leaves a distinct impression of professionalism. After the groupâ€™s performance in St. Petersburg, Dr. Alex Zapesotski said, â€śAs president of the St. Petersburg Humanities University, I have traveled around the worldâ€”to London, Tokyo, Parisâ€”and have never seen a production of your high artistic standard and spirit.â€ť Â Â

The Ballroom Dance Company originates in the Department of Dance of the College of Fine Arts and Communications at BYU in Provo, Utah.
