Candidate forums for mayoral elections scheduled

November 19, 2013

Candidate forums for the upcoming mayoral election between Paul Loomis and Dan Cravens have been scheduled. Loomis and Cravens are facing a runoff election as the top two candidates of six since none of the candidates gained 50 percent (plus one) of the votes needed in the city election on Nov. 5.
-The Blackfoot Chapter of the Freedom First Society will hold the first forum on Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m at Blackfoot City Hall.
Freedom First spokesperson Julianne Young said that the Freedom First Society is an organization that believes that the U.S. Constitution is the "highest law of the land" and that "whoever is elected to the office of mayor will be required to take an oath to uphold the Constitution.
"This forum will address questions related to how each candidate will apply the principles of the Constitution in the governing the city of Blackfoot," Young said.
For more information about the Freedom First Society go to www.freedomfirstsociety.org or call Julianne Young at 208-785-3658.
-The second scheduled forum, sponsored by Blackfoot Firefighters Local 4454, Local Fraternal Order of Police Lodge and the Morning News, will be held on Monday at 6 p.m. at Blackfoot City Hall.
