Candidates file for election

BLACKFOOT — Former superintendent Dewane Wren is challenging Peter Lipovac for one of the three Blackfoot School Board trustee positions which will be decided in May. They are facing off in Zone 1. In Zone 3 Lori Kitzmiller is challenging longtime trustee Mary Jo Marlow. Derek Preece has filed to replace Dr. Taylor Johansen in Zone 3. No one else filed to run for that seat. Johansen announced recently that he would not run again.
Korden Wray and Steve Reader did not file. Kent L. Miller and Robert Wright will challenge one another in Wray's zone 4. Kim W. Kunz will replace Reader in zone 5. Incumbent Annis Williams filed for her seat but no challenger did so. As a result she will retain her seat.
Other candidates who filed to fill positions on water and sewer, school school districts and library boards include:
Water and Sewer
° Greenfield Acres
One seat is open.
Shirley E. Killam, incumbent, filed for a six-year term.
No election is needed.
° Groveland
Three seats are open.
Clem R. Yancey, incumbent filed for a six-year term.
S. Paul Chambers, incumbent, filed for a six-year term.
Incumbent Jan Kay Whitehead filed for a four-year term.
No election is needed.
° Moreland
Three seats are open.
Incumbent Robert E. Lee Baker will face LuJean Warnick for Seat 1 which is a six-year term. An election will take place.
Rosco O. May, Seat 5 incumbent, filed for a six-year term.
Laurel J. Orr, incumbent, Seat 2, filed to run for a four-year term.
° Springfield
These are open seats. Larry Monsen filed for Seat 4 and Gary Krebiel filed for Seat 5. Both candidates filed for a six-year term. No election is needed.
° Woodville
For Seat 1, incumbent Stan Ottley is retiring. Caleb T. Hurd is running for that seat for a six-year term. No election is needed.

School Districts
° Aberdeen School District
Zone 1—Incumbent Ken Woods did not file. Herb Bohrer filed to run for a four-year term. No election is scheduled.
Zone 4—Incumbent Ritchey Toevs did not file. Mike Shackelford filed for the four-year term. No election is scheduled.
Zone 5—Incumbent Andrea Myler did not file. No other candidate filed. There is no election, however, a person has until April 5 to file to run as write-in candidate.
° Bonneville Joint School District
Zone 1, located in Bingham County, is not up for election this year.
° Firth School District
Zone 1—Incumbent Casey Park file for a four-year term. There will be no election.
Zone 4—Incumbent John Monson did not file. Paul W. Jensen filed for the four-year term. No election is scheduled.
Zone 5—Incumbent April Christensen filed for her four-year term. There will be no election.
° Shelley Joint School District
Zone 4—Incumbent Kenneth D. Kersley filed for his four-year term. There is no other candidate. No election is scheduled.
Zone 5—Incumbent Vicki K. Johnson will face Sharlene Jolley for a four-year term. An election will take place.

Library Districts
° Aberdeen District Library
Incumbents Janet L. Wampler filed for a two-year term.
Cheri R. Mitchell filed to run for a four-year term.
There is one candidate for the open seat. annette McDonnell filed for a four-year term. No election is scheduled.
° Blackfoot Rural Library District
Incumbents Sara J. Staub filed for a four-year term.
Maureen Gordon filed to complete a two-year term.
Both are unopposed.
Incumbent Lee Bendixsen did not file but Rod Lilya filed to run for the third open seat for four-years.
No election is scheduled.
° North Bingham County District Library
No election is scheduled.
All three incumbents—Lynn David Mecham filed for a four-year term, Carolyn Ann Lyon filed for a four-year term and Teresa Dye filed to run for the open seat. If elected, the length of Dye's term is two-years.
° Snake River School/Community Library
No election is scheduled.
All three incumbents—Lon Harrington (four-year term), J. Wayne Taylor (four-year term) and Michelle Anderson (two-year term) filed to fun for the three open seats.
Candidates who want to run as write-in candidates have until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 5, to file. Candidates who wish to withdraw have until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 5.
