CHUBBUCK â€” Carlyle Raymond Bassett, 84, of Chubbuck passed away peacefully at his home with family on Saturday, April 16, 2011.
He was born in Howell, Utah, on Dec. 4, 1927, to Ernest and Lily Bassett.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Betty Jo Bassett, and 11 children, David Blair, Alan Cates, Gary Cates, Randal Cates, Cheron Knight, Darla Cates, all of Fort Hall; Vicki Cervantes of Phoenix, Ariz.; Carol Sanchez of Pocatello; Paul Bassett, Joe Bassett and Kaylene Smith, all of Grand Junction, Colo.
He is also survived by six brothers and sisters, Carlos Bassett, Darlene Beebe, Cloe Rene Pannel, Phyllis Thornock, and Dale Ann Christensen, all of Idaho; Illa Stewart of Oregon; and Evelyn Stewart of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by a son, Karl Lyle; a daughter Jenny and a grandson Jeromy.
Carlyle loved camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with family.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A viewing will be at Downard Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2011, with a short service after.
