Challengers win in three races

The Morning News — Leslie Mielke Election workers at Stalker Elementary in Blackfoot said voters came at a pretty steady pace throughout all of primary election day.

Three Republican incumbents appeared to be headed to defeat as the primary election results trickled into the Bingham County election office on Tuesday night.
With 15 of 26 precincts reporting, Cleve Colson had a 73 percent to 27 percent lead over prosecuting attorney J. Scott Andrew. Craig Rowland had a 63-37 percent lead over Sheriff Dave Johnson. And, in the race for Legislative Seat B, Julie VanOrden had an 63-37 percent lead over incumbent Rep. Jim Marriott.
According to election offices, machine malfunctions slowed the counting process.
