BLACKFOOT â€” The 33rd annual Bingham County Christmas Tree Fantasy auction Thursday night raised nearly $19,000 for local organizations. The Fantasy continues today from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Needlecraft Building at the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds.
The tree titled "Nutcracker Sweet" decorated by Bingham Memorial Hospital's Radiology Department received the highest bid of the night, bringing in $1,750. The decadently decorated tree is a child's dream filed with lollipops, gingerbread houses, candy canes and giant snowflakes wrapped with pink and green.
There were a total of 46 items auctioned including trees, wreaths, decorative pots and metal artwork.
"The Blackfoot community is so amazing," Chairman Angela Clarke said. "Thanks again to the community for coming out and supporting the Christmas Tree Fantasy."
Arnold Callison was the auctioneer and Karole Honas emceed the event. Several businesses and individuals donated trees and participated in the auction.
The Christmas Tree Fantasy continues today and the trees will remain on display through 2 p.m. Saturday. A potato bar will be offered in the cafe today.
Tickets are still available for Breakfast with Santa at 9 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Premier Insurance, Rupe's Burgers, Tommy Vaughn's Grill and Chevron. Tickets may also be available at the door.
Bingham County Christmas Tree Fantasy raises funds annually for community organizations.
Clarke announced the theme for next year's event at the conclusion of the auctionâ€”it will be "I'll be Home for Christmas."
