BLACKFOOT — The Bingham County Christmas Tree Fantasy will be back this year — just in a new location.
This year the event, hosted every year the week after Thanksgiving, will be in the Needlecraft Building at the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds. The Shilling House Reception Center, where the event has been held for several years, closed last year. It will be the 33rd year for the event.
"We thought (the Needlecraft Building) would be a good place to start," 2011 Christmas Tree Fantasy Chairperson Jana Rupe said.
Aside from the location, the event will have all the favorites from year's past including a tree room, sweet shop, boutique and kitchen. There will also be a holiday tea, breakfast with Santa and tree auction.
The Christmas Tree Fantasy will begin Nov. 30 and continue through Dec. 3. The auction will be Thursday, Dec. 1.
Those wanting to decorate and donate a tree or auction items should contact Anne Lim at 785-6867 or 681-7137.
This year's theme is "A Nutcracker Christmas."
The Christmas Tree Fantasy supports numerous Bingham County non-profit organizations. The money raised goes to Bingham County organizations that submit applications for funding each year.
Over the years, thousands of dollars have been given to worthwhile causes in the community including senior citizen centers, Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency, Bingham Crisis Center and Dawn Enterprises — to name a few.
