Council puts tree decision aside for now
Blackfoot City Councilman Rich Woodfin presented a tentative three-phase plan to remove eight blue spruce trees along Bergener Boulevard at last week's city council meeting.
The trees became an issue this fall when some of the business managers and property owners complained that the trees are blocking visibility to their signs and storefronts.
Woodfin has reviewed the tree situation closely following the business complaints and subsequent comments by citizens who said that "they don't want to lose the trees for their aesthetic value, especially when they are lighted up at Christmastime."
The council has opted not to pursue the proposed tree removal plan until this spring.
