County officials honor dispatchers

Morning News – Leslie Mielke Bingham County dispatcher Carleen Belt takes a break from her duties in the dispatch center in the Bingham County Courthouse.

This is National Telecommunications Recognition Week. To honor the county’s dispatchers, the Bingham County Sheriff’s office provided lunch on Wednesday for the 14 dispatchers, two of whom are part-time.
The dispatchers also have received flowers and small gifts throughout the week.
Lead dispatcher Katie Bisharat has been a Bingham County dispatcher for 19 years.
“It is a very rewarding profession,” she said. “There is a high turnover rate everywhere.
The average length of a dispatcher’s tenure is not past 10 years, said Bisharat.
