Dalia Blanca Smith Matamoros, joined our Father in Heaven on Sunday, April 21, 2013.
Her lifelong journey began when she was born to Rafael and Francis Matamoros on
March 1, 1968 in Blackfoot. Dalia is fifth of 10 children. She has six brothers and three sisters.
Dalia was raised in Blackfoo,t completing her early education where she graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1986.
In 1987 she left the town of Blackfoot and moved to Virginia in order to become a nanny. Upon her return to Blackfoot she pledged that she would continue her education in order to earn her
degree as a medical assistant. She inspired many by graduating from Bryman School in
Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1999.
She would later pursue her career as a medical assistant for the next 15 years, working in a general family medical practice and with seniors in their personal homes.
Although she never had any children of her
own, she enjoyed teaching and working with them through the Meridian School District and loved sharing her free time with her nieces and nephews always expressing how they were just like her own.
Dalia married three times in hopes to find her true love, ultimately agreeing that remaining
single was her best option. She experienced some fun and exciting adventures through this passage, traveling to San Diego, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Los Cabos San Lucas.
Her favorite pastimes included movies, walks with her dog Bingo, crocheting, working out at the gym, and socializing with her friends from the LDS Church. She was baptized in the Boise Temple in 2008 and lastly was a member of the Nampa 24th Ward in Nampa.
Dalia settled into the Boise/Nampa area in 1996, calling this her home to rest.
She is survived by both parents, Rafael and Francis Matamoros; her brothers; Luis (Micaela) Matamoros of Blackfoot; Ricardo (Sara) Matamoros of Houston, Texas; Rafael Jr. (Judith) Matamoros of Hillsboro, Ore.; David (Addy) Matamoros of Kuna; Mike Matamoros of San Diego, Calif.; and Ceasar Matamoros of Nampa; Her sisters; Esmeralda (Javier) Cantu of San Antonio, Texas; Norma Matamoros (Joe) of Nampa and Nora Martinez of Nampa; 19nieces and nephews and eight great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral viewing will be held at noon on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Avenue South, Nampa, where family will visit with friends and relatives before the service which will commence immediately following at 1 p.m.
Interment will be at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa.
