BLACKFOOT — Who is the fastest fifth grader in Bingham County? To find the answer, the Miracle 1/2 Mile will be run at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Blackfoot High School soccer field.
This race is open to all fifth graders in the county.
The event is free but people are asked to bring a donation or donations for the food bank, said organizer Brinton Jefferis.
Registration is on-site from 8—8:45 a.m. There are no early registrations.
Just show up on race day and fill out a parent permission form and waiver, Jefferis said.
Participants must be in good health and able to safely run one-half mile, he said. Parents must be present before, during and after the event to ensure the participants safety and immediate departure after the event.
Parents cannot drop off and leave their children unattended at the event, Jefferis said.
Fifth grade girls will run first; boys will run next.
There will be trophies for first, second and third place girls and first, second and third place boys. The trophies are sponsored by the Blackfoot Medical Center.
Door prizes are sponsored by Downtown Bread and Rupe's Burgers.
This event is a part of Blackfoot School District's effort to encourage healthy lifestyles and community support, Jefferis said.
