Former Blackfoot Mayor Mike Virtue and Blackfoot High School teacher and city councilman Layne Gardner, along with school district officials, applaud members of Blackfoot High School's We The People competitive government team. Blackfoot High School's [BHS] - seven-time state champions - We The People competitive government team was honored and presented with a $500 check from the City of Blackfoot at Thursday's school board meeting.
BHS government teacher Holly Kartchner has led the students to victory the past seven years and the team is now preparing to travel to Washington D.C. for the national competition where they will answer intense questions about government and the U.S. Constitution.
District officials made it it a point to recognize, not only Kartchner and the students, but the parents and volunteers behind the team.
