Elaine Poog Ingawanup, 86, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
She was born March 25, 1927 to Peter Poog and Alice Deepwater in Ross Fork.
Â She attended the Fort Hall Boarding School and Chemawa Indian School in Oregon. She also attended Idaho State University office occupations program.
Elaine married Jim Ingawanup in May 1947 and they made their home in Ross Fork where they were ranchers.
She was employed at various harvest jobs. She was also a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes Health and Welfare Committee and the Enrollment Committee for many years. She contributed to the Ross Fork Memorial Day Feast every year.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Ivan Sr.) Dixey of Fort Hall; and her sister, Pearl Poog; Lance (Stephanie) Osborne and Carol Osborne whom she raised as her own children; grandchildren, Ivan (Kristy) Dixey Jr., Fletcher Dixey and Heath Dixey; 11 great-grandchildren; one grea-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, Peter Poog and Alice Deepwater; a brother, Dwight Osborne; along with sisters, Hazel Bailey, Delphine Marshall and Leona Paladino.
Elaine will be taken to her home in Ross Fork the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, after cremation has taken place, at which time friends may come by to pay their respects to her family.Â
Burial will take place on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Ross Fork Cemetery.Â Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.Â Condolences may be sent to the family at email@example.com.
