Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Louise Lewis, 80

Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Lewis, 80, of Pocatello, passed away on March 12, 2011. at the Ashley Manor in Chubbuck.
Betty was born July 21, 1930, in Firth to Adolph Bartausky and Cristina Worthen.  She attended St. Margaret’s Catholic Boarding School until eighth grade, graduating from Firth High School.
On April 10, 1950, Betty married Paul E. Lewis in Blackfoot.  Together they had four children, Gary, Don, Darrell and Cathy.  Paul preceded her in death in May of 1983. 
Betty was a teacher’s aide at Tyhee Elementary School, had worked at the Bannock Nursing Home and for Lamb Weston for a short time. In her youth she had also worked for the telephone company.
She was a member of the LDS Church. She also was a past member of the Moose Lodge. One of her greatest joys was found through volunteering with the Foster Grandparent program and she made many lasting friendships through her service. She also enjoyed crocheting, camping, traveling and spending time with her family.  She was affectionately referred to as “Granny” by many.
Survivors include her children, Gary Lewis of Blackfoot, Don (Chriss) Lewis, Tyhee, Darrell (Lucinda) Lewis of Blackfoot and Cathy (Eddy) Durfee of Pocatello; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, John (Norine) Bartausky, Pingree, and two sisters Joy (Fred) Massengale, Chandler, Ariz., and Joann (Bill) Jones, Kimberly.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2001, at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling in Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends on Friday at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday for an hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Riverside Thomas Cemetery.
