Elva Aldina Berggren, 92, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at her home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1919 in Cheraw, Colo., to Harold Brewster Wadleigh and Olive Joyce Basinger Wadleigh.
Elva attended schools in various towns in Colorado. She moved to Idaho in the late 1930's, working in the fruit orchards. Her family followed the fruit harvest to several locations in Idaho, but also lived in several locations in Oregon, including Vale, Gresham, and Portland. She had lived in the Lavaside, Idaho area since 1999.
On May 17, 1940, she married Ernest Leslie Klein in Payette. They were later divorced and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2002. She married Wilber Lewis Springer in September of 1974. He also preceded her in death. On Dec. 31, 1999, she married Glen Berggren in Twin Falls.
Elva was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Firth.
She worked as a dietician in a care center in Oregon. She was known for making cookies for every event and made wedding cakes. She was also a talented seamstress. Elva enjoyed working on Suduko and crossword puzzles, quilting and crocheting, and especially loved working in her garden and flower beds. She enjoyed observing and caring for animals and birds.
She is survived by her husband, Glen of Blackfoot; children, Elva Myreen (Bob)Salzer of Salem, Ore.; Ernestine Gay Waddell of Emmett; and Norvyn Bruce (Donna) Klein of Portland, Ore.; stepchildren, David (Judy) Springer of Pasco, Wash.; Carol (Jay) Hollinger of Boise; Betsy (Martin) Ortiz of Caldwell; Paul (Carol) Springer of Twin Falls; Charles (Reada) Springer of Toledo, Ore.; David (Angie) Berggren of Firth; Steven (Vicky) Berggren of Blackfoot and Sharon (Curtis) Beasley of Kennewick, Wash.; brother, Calvin Wadleigh of New Mexico; 30 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first two husbands, and sister, Joyce Dayton.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Assembly of God Church , 235 W. Center, Firth with Pastor Paul Springer officiating.
Services are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
