Erma Jorgensen Whiting, 82, of Blackfoot passed away Feb. 10, 2014, at the Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Blackfoot.
Erma was born March 2, 1931, in Blackfoot, to John E. Jorgensen and Mary Ann McCracken.Â She was raised in the Groveland area and was a member of the 1949 Blackfoot High School graduating class. Â
On Nov. 9, 1949, Erma married Jesse J. Whiting in Idaho Falls.Â They had two children, Lucinda and LeeDel. Â
Erma worked a short time as a waitress and in some retail stores, but dedicated her life to being a wife and mother.Â In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, dancing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, gardening and serving as a beauty consultant. Â
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Erma is survived by her daughter, Lucinda (DuWayne) Walker of Pocatello; son, LeeDel Whiting of Riverside; grandchildren, Jona (Tim) Hansen and boys, and Cade Walker; and sister-in-law, Louise Jorgensen of Blackfoot. Â
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Tom (Freeda), Loyal (Lila), Glenn and Eldon (Margaret) Jorgensen; and sisters, Laura (Ernie) Tripp, Laverna (Walt) Brown and Norma (Tom) Woods.Â
The family appreciates the kind and loving care provided to Erma in recent years by the staff of the Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing Center.
The family will meet with friends and relatives at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot, prior to the graveside dedication at 12 p.m., at the Groveland Cemetery.
