Ernest Chavez, 74

Ernest M. Chavez, 74, of Blackfoot, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
Earnest was born August 11, 1939 in Victoria, Texas, to Alfredo and Julia Chavez.  He later moved to Corvallis, Montana where he married Janie Casias.  They were later married in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, in Blackfoot, Idaho on December 23, 1980.  Through this union they had 10 children, 35 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Ernest retired from Kraft Foods, he had also worked for Nonpareil Corp.
He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, traveling to Montana to spend time on the family ranch, land scaping, napping under his Juniper tree and listening to old country music.
He will be greatly missed for the love and support he provided for all of his family.
He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Chavez; his children: Ernest (Alayne) Chavez, Alfared (Marlena) Chavez, Emilio (Lori) Chavez, Lupe (Carlos Lopez) Wadsworth, Lisa (Matt) Barnard, Robbie Chavez, Bobbie (Elisa) Chavez, Janie (Darin) Watt, Anna (Chris) Anderson, Daniel Ernest Chavez, Emilio Rey Chavez, Sara Ternus; thirteen brothers and sisters; thirty-five grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joann Chapman, brother Jessie and his parents Alfredo and Julia Chavez.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.  A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013,  a vigil service will be at 7 p.m.  The family will meet with friends and relatives following the rosary and vigil services, at Hawker Funeral Home. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Grove City Cemetery.
