Eugene Van Orden, 71, of Pingree passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at his home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1942 in Pingree, the son of Edmond Orlando Van Orden and Mae Irene Liljinquist Van Orden.
Eugene graduated from Snake River High School in 1960.
On June 17, 1960, he married Carolynn Furniss in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a bishopric, as High Priest group leader, various other callings and was currently serving as a temple ordinance worker until his health declined.
Eugene belonged to the Potato Growers of Idaho.Â He was a farmer his entire life and very involved andÂ motivated to help his fellow growers in future marketing of their crops.
Â He enjoyed fishing, camping and golfing with his family and friends and enjoyed supporting grandkids in their various activities.
He is survived by his wife, Carolynn of Pingree; children, Pam (Bruce) Lake,Â Steven (Michelle) Van Orden, Janae (Darren) Albertson, Troy (Michelle) Van Orden, Jared (Lucy) Van OrdenÂ and Shay (Mellissa) all of the Blackfoot area; brother, Larry (Paunie) Van Orden of Thomas; sisters, Shirley (Gary) Seamons of Moreland, his twin sister, Elaine Belnap of Thomas, Clarice Ziebarth of Pingree, Myrna (Dave) Fillmore of Boise; brother-in-law, Alan Watson of Arizona; 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Darrell Belnap and LaMoine Ziebarth and one granddaughter, Kylee Albertson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Pingree LDS Chapel with Bishop Jim Williams conducting.
The family will meet with friends on Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
