MONTPELIER — EZRA SAMUEL PAYNE, 94, beloved father and grandfather returned home to his Heavenly Father April 24, 2012.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1917 to Lot Leo and Hattie Hayes Payne in Stringtown, Idaho.
His childhood was spent in Georgetown where he helped his dad farm. He
graduated from Georgetown High School where he enjoyed playing basketball.
Ezra married the love of his life, LaWanda Koford, on Dec. 4, 1944 in
Pocatello. They were later sealed in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on June
24, 1966. They were married 66 years before she passed away, and Ezra lost his best friend.
Ezra was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Ezra spent his working life as a parts and service manager for Tapper
Chevrolet. He and his wife loved to travel and enjoyed visiting many
different places.
Ezra was a good example for his family and was a true gentleman. He was so thoughtful to those around him and he was very grateful to the employees of Bear Lake Manor and appreciated the excellent care and love that they showed to him.
Ezra is survived by his son, Steven Bradley (Linda) Payne of Blackfoot, grandsons Troy Michael (Heidi) Payne of North Salt Lake, Utah; Randy
Scott (Kathie) Payne of Blackfoot; and Shaun Gary (Stacey) Payne of
Blackfoot; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his parents; wife LaWanda;, brothers Ashley, Cecil, Berdean, and sisters
Melissia Louise and Grace.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS 2nd Ward Chapel located at 585 N 8th Street, Montpelier, Idaho.  Friends may call prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M.  There will be a night visitation on Sunday April 29, 2012 at Matthews Mortuary, in Montpelier, Idaho form  6:00 to 8:00 P.M.  Internment will follow in the Montpelier Cemetery
