Farris I Wixom, 77, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at The Willows in Blackfoot.
Farris was born January 28, 1933 to Irvin Wixom and Hannah Butt in Blackfoot, Idaho.Â He attended school in the Snake River School District graduating from Thomas-Moreland High School.Â Other than living in different towns due to construction jobs, he lived his entire life in Blackfoot.
On March 10, 1956 Farris married Mary Joyce Anderson in Elko, Nevada.Â Together they had five children, Cheryl, Bryan, Serena, Lauri and Dana.Â Farris and Mary were later divorced.
Farris served his country in the United States Army, serving in Germany.
Farris worked as a pipefitter and welder in numerous construction jobs.Â He was a member of the Plumber-Pipefitters Local 648.Â In his free time, he enjoyed working with horses, fishing, camping and hunting.
Farris was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Wixom of Blackfoot, Bryan (Sandy) Wixom of Blackfoot, Serena (Mike) George of Layton, Utah, Lauri (Ben) Krause of Blackfoot and Dana Blackburn of Blackfoot; brothers, Vaughn Wixom of Idaho Falls and Jay Wixom of Salt Lake City, Utah; sisters, Bobbi Davis of Pocatello and Mardean Randall of Reno, Nevada; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Farris is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.
Family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at the Groveland Cemetery.
