Bingham County residents won't have to drive to a big city to see some great fireworks on the 4th of July. Bingham Memorial Hospital has stepped up to be the title sponsor, in conjunction with the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce, for what is to be a spectacular firework show, starting at 10 p.m., over Blackfoot's own Jensen Grove Lake.
Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tish Dahmen credits the generosity of BMH and other local sponsors for saving the fireworks show, when just a few months ago, it was close to be canceled due to lack of funds. Other businesses helping to sponsor the show include Milestone, Idaho National Guard, Idaho Central Credit Union, Fort Hall Casino, Idaho Power, Conquest Insurance and Premier Technology.
There will be two concerts in Blackfoot before the fireworks show this year.
A free patriotic concert featuring a live band and choir of local singers and musicians will be held at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Th country/classic rock band "Hillbilly Deluxe" from Pocatello will perform at the Jensen Grove amphitheater from 7-10 p.m. This concert is sponsored by Les Schwab with free party favors provided by Basic American Foods.
With the July 4th festivities blending with Blackfoot Pride Days [July 4-6] this year, Dahmen said, "If there was ever a year where people will want to stay in town for the 4th, this is the year. There are more reasons than ever to stay at the [Jensen Grove] park for three days of fun.
