FIRTH — The Firth volleyball squad got 26 assists from Jordyn Park and 16 kills out of Bailey Nelson as they ran over a pesky Ririe squad 25-15, 25-18, 16-25 and 25-14 on Thursday evening.
"Like coach Carter said, the deepest fear is being powerful beyond measure and I believe that we still have a lot left in there and that we will be powerful beyond measure with this team," Firth head coach Carla Reeves said.
Firth won the game at the service line where they had 6 team aces and just 5 service errors on the evening.
"That's what you want," Coach Reeves said. "This team has been scared at times serving to win but tonight they did a lot better. They are getting there from the service line."
After rolling through the first two games Firth found themselves down a quick 5-0 in game three. Ririe were able to closed out that game with a 25-16 finish forcing a fourth game that the Cougars never trailed in as they rebounded nicely for a 25-14 score.
"I will usually call a time out but in that third game I just let them go. Sometimes you have to just let them work it out," Coach Reeves said. "I thought that they picked up the defense in the fourth game and I think that we are having leaders starting to emerge."
With the win Firth remains unbeaten in league play with a perfect 3-0 record and they will return to the court next Wednesday when they make the long drive north to Ashton for a conference date at North Fremont.
