Gabriel Martinez Coronado, 87, of Shelley passed away Feb, 16, 2011, at his home.
He was born March 24, 1923, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Antonio and Alejandra Martinez Coronado.
He married Maria Conception Tapia on May 14, 1944, in Real De Catorse, Mexico.Â In 1949 they came to America.Â They moved to Shelley in 1958 where he was a longtime employee of R.T. French and Pillsbury companies.Â He was the father of 12 children.
He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Idaho Falls.
Gabriel loved taking his wife of over 50 years dancing. For years he grew one of Shelleyâ€™s most beautiful and famous gardens.
He is survived by his children: Frank (Jenise) Coronado of Mesa, Ariz.; Mary Coronado-Ortiz of Idaho Falls; Lupe (Ernie) Garza of Shelley; Tony Coronado of Shelley; Ron (Zoe) Coronado of White Rock, N.M.; Benny (Pam) Coronado of Meridian; Benjamin (Annie) Coronado of Boise; Linda Coronado of Yuba City, Calif.; Lucinda Coronado-Griffin of Idaho Falls; and Adrien Coronado of Idaho Falls; 37 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two children, Lila Maria and Gabriel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church on 9th and Lee Streets in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.Â A Rosary service will start at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.Â Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.Â Condolences can be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.
