Garth Lee, 82
Garth Lee, 82, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at his home in
Moreland surrounded by his family. He left peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Garth was the second of five children born to William Moss and Elda Mae Kroll Lee on May 26, 1929, in Rigby. He attended school in Ammon and Lincoln until his family moved to Coolidge, Ariz., when he was 16 where he continued his education. As a young man, Garth worked at a service station, learning mechanical skills from his father.
It was while his family was living in Arizona that he met his sister’s friend, Melba Joy McCasland. On July 24, 1954, they married and soon moved back to Idaho. They eventually settled in Blackfoot, where Garth began his career at Basic American Foods in 1958. He worked there until he retired in 1994.
Garth enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going camping, fishing, hunting, vacationing with his brother, Doyle K. Lee, and his family every year. He played on the New Frontier Pool Team.
Garth is survived by his wife, Melba Joy Lee of Moreland; children, Judy (Loren) Nowinsky of Thomas; Garth Wayne (LaRae Scott) Lee of Pocatello, Brenda Lee of Pocatello, Paula (David) Keller of Moreland; brother, Doyle Kay Lee of Moses Lake, Wash.; sister Nola Goodin and Marcine Candelaria of Tucson, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren who will miss him greatly, Justin Palmer, Camille Callister, Tyeona, Sianne, McKayla, Shayla and Cheston Yupe, Kylee Borjas-Black, Zuriel Borjas-Black, Dalton Keller, Randy Pantajo, Nikki (Juston) Wadsworth, Trysten, Jayce and one on the way.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at the Hawker Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
Family will meet with friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
