Gary M. Gay, 67
Gary M. Gay, 67, of Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born May 7, 1943, in Pocatello to Walter Scott and Blanche Viola Davis Gay. He has lived his entire life in Southeast Idaho, primarily in Blackfoot, graduating from Snake River High School in 1961. On June 15, 1962, he married his one and only love, Joan M. Rossi, in Pingree. Gary was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Gary started his career with Idaho Power working from 1965-1977. In 1977 he started his own business, Diamond Electric, in 1980 he started working for Butte Irrigation where he gained his journeyman electrician license. In 1986 Gary restarted his own business under the name Pivot Electric where he provided irrigation services to the valley farmers. Working for Ag Services from 1997-2002 was his final employment due to health issues forcing his retirement.
Gary was the governor of the Grandview Moose Lodge. His love and patriotism for this country and its military was on display at all times.
Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed sharing and teaching his passion to family, friends and anyone who wanted to listen and learn. Spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren brought special joy to everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Jim (Renee) Gay, Scott (Janet) Gay; mother, Blanche Viola Gay; brother, Walter (Irma) Gay, sister, Irene (Mel) Blackburn; grandchildren: Sunnie M. Gay, Cheyenne A. Clark (Nevada), Johnathan “Tyler” Gay and great-granddaughter, Libby Grace Clark.
The family would like to extend a special thank you and gratitude to Dr. McKinlay, Ann Ropp, Access Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care, especially Deedie Martin and Sara Bingham.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Scott Gay.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends and family from 3-4 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.
